INTRODUCTION

The Western Cape Government Health is conducting an Occupational Health and Safety Annual Survey. This survey is not to mark facilities down, but by participating in the survey Facility Managers and OHS practitioners are able to help the Department identify ways to improve health & safety in the workplace. This survey is also to update the information which was provided in the last annual survey.

The survey will take approximately 20 - 25 minutes to complete.

The Western Cape Government Health is committed to achieve the objectives as outlined in the Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality (SHERQ) policy (2016), by providing the following:

- A healthy and safe environment for employees, patients, visitors and mandatories.
- Improve and maintain occupational health and safety by identifying associated risks in the workplace.
- Implement measures aimed at preventing occupational injuries and diseases.
- Appoint competent Health & Safety representatives to identify risks and make recommendations to the employer and ensure overall compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act (1993).
- Identify internal and external resources to provide technical support and advice to the employer on OHS issues.

Safety in the Department of Health is vital to the success for efficient and effective service delivery. Occupational Health and Safety is critical in achieving patient centered care. The results of the survey will be used to identify risks, trends and implement relevant strategies.

Note: If you are responsible for more than one facility, please complete the survey for each facility.
