Neighborhood bikeways make it easier for people walking and bicycling to cross intersections, more comfortable for people bicycling to ride in the street, and safer for everyone regardless of how they travel. In contrast to dedicated bike lanes, the installation of neighborhood bikeways generally includes design features to encourage safe driving, reduce cut-through car traffic and minimal impacts to on-street parking. Below are a few examples of improvements which are elements of neighborhood bikeways.
