Dear Business and Industry Partners,
-
The South Dakota Department of Education, Office of Career & Technical Education, is inviting industry partners like you to help shape the future of our state’s workforce. This year, we will be updating several Career & Technical Education (CTE) content standards, and your expertise is essential to ensuring students are prepared with the skills employers need most.
-
Each standards work group will bring together about 20 participants, including CTE educators, postsecondary faculty, and business and industry leaders. Your voice helps ensure that classroom learning reflects real-world expectations—bridging the gap between education and the workforce.
-
The work will take place through virtual meetings, making it easy to participate from your home or office.
-
Industry representatives can choose to join only during the portions where their feedback is most needed (3-5pm or 9-11am), or stay for the full session if they wish.
-
Upcoming sessions (3:00 PM Central Time):
>November 4 – Marketing and Sales
>November 13 – Foundational and Essential Skills
>November 19 – Energy and Natural Resources
>December 3 – Capstone
>March 2 – Architecture and Construction
>March 9 – Supply Chain and Transportation
>March 30 – Public Service and Safety

>May 27 – Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering
>June 1 – Hospitality, Tourism, and Events
