Have you ever thought about renovating an older home, building a small rental property, or completing a housing project for sale or rent but weren't sure where to start?
Sunrise County Economic Council is exploring a new Small-Scale Housing Developer Training Program to be held in late fall/early winter. The program is designed for anyone interested in helping create more housing in Washington County - including builders, contractors, property owners, landlords, investors, community members, and others who may have an idea, property, or interest in taking on a small housing project.
The training includes:
- A one-day, in-person workshop introducing the fundamentals of small-scale housing development.
- Five weekly two-hour sessions focused on practical, real-world skills.
- Instruction on finding development opportunities and evaluating potential projects.
- Guidance on financing options, budgeting, and project feasibility.
- Step-by-step information about permitting and local development processes.
- Practical tools for managing construction and moving a project from concept to completion.
- Opportunities to connect with experienced developers, lenders, and housing professionals.
- Follow-up technical assistance and coaching to help participants advance their own housing projects.
