Expression of Interest - Consumer Council

The South Canterbury District Health Board are looking for people who have experienced our health system and are keen to help us improve it. If you are or have been a patient, consumer or just a person who wants to get involved, your voice could join others on the Consumer Council and help shape the future of healthcare in South Canterbury.

What is the Consumer Council?

The Consumer Council gives patients and their families a strong and viable voice in the planning and provision of health services across South Canterbury. Using the banner of “Inform, Involve, Influence,” it has both a communication role and a quality improvement role, focussing on community engagement and promotion of innovation and best practice.

What is the benefit to our community?

Being a part of the Consumer Council is a way for people’s concerns to be heard, new opportunities to be considered, and a way of building a mutually inclusive healthcare system where we take the voice of the consumer seriously. Every person has a say and we want our community to feel that what they say truly matters.

What do you need to have?

If you are passionate about our healthcare system, a good listener who’s able to work well with others, are open to new ways of working and can express yourself and your ideas, you could be just what we’re looking for. You also need to be available to attend a quarterly meeting and keep up with any reading required.

If you think you have what it takes to help improve the health of South Canterbury, please fill in the questions below and submit by 4pm on Friday 5th of June 2020.
