While bargaining for your Enterprise Agreement, many of you raised concerns with your union delegates about the significant amount of labour hire employees Maribyrnong uses. Labour hire arrangements usually reduce employment entitlements that you work hard for in bargaining and contribute towards through your collective membership. Labour hire employees are denied job security by employers and are therefore more easily exploited, because of this, they can’t participate as easily in our union and our communities. We know that the health and safety of agency and labour hire employees is reduced simply because it is harder for them to say no.
 
Your representatives have made big strides in this agreement to fix the labour hire problem at Maribyrnong, but to enforce these changes, we need as much information as possible on where labour hire is being used at the Council.
