Introduction

Thank you for helping turn the Golden State Purple with our 2016 Domestic Violence Awareness (DVAM) Campaign! As we continue to adapt our tools and messaging to meet statewide needs, we are interested in your feedback about the campaign, your use of our messages and themes, and any impact you saw in your communities.

This year's campaign provided a month-long series of activities that brought the focus from individuals to families, and communities to culture shifts in a campaign called From Portrait to Panorama. Each week took us through that journey:
  • Week 1: California's Survivors - Underrepresented groups, including survivors who are incarcerated and immigrant survivors
  • Week 2: Healing for Whole Families - Advocacy beyond leaving, batterer's intervention programs
  • Week 3: Community Supports - Accountability alternatives to the criminal legal system, restorative & transformative justice
  • Week 4: Shifting Culture with Public Policy - Economic justice, school policies that address adolescent dating abuse
This campaign was developed with the understanding that many local Members already had established DVAM activities--so this social media campaign was offered as an option so that they could choose to join in a unified statewide theme, or not.
