Course Description

Drug-Facilitated Sexual Assault (DFSA)
This one-hour training session is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of investigators in drug-facilitated sexual assault investigations.  This session will provide a brief history of incapacitation by drugs, identify typical drugs encountered in DFSA cases and their effects, describe the role of the investigator and toxicologist, and review DFSA case studies involving toxicology evidence.  
By the end of the session, participants will demonstrate knowledge of the wide range of drugs commonly used in DFSA cases and their effects. The participants will also recognize the importance of timely collection and proper storage of biological samples, and timely communication among the parties involved in the investigation.
