• Swoop and Stu’s Reading Club is an incentive based reading program where teachers set goals for their students to match the reading levels in their classroom.
• Each goal corresponds with a base on a baseball diamond.
• Students will be rewarded with prizes from the South Bend Cubs and local businesses for each goal completed. After students complete all four bases, they will receive a complimentary ticket to a South Bend Cubs home game, valid for your school’s Reading Club Night.
The timeline for the program is as follows:

• February 3rd – DEADLINE TO SIGN UP YOUR SCHOOL
• February 17th – Packets delivered to schools (the week of February 17th)
• March 2nd through 6th – Week One
• March 9th through 13th – Week Two
• March 16th through 20th – Week Three
• March 23rd through 27th – Week Four

Acquiring Tickets

Every student that completes all four reading goals and “Hits a Home Run” will receive a free ticket to your school’s designated Reading Club game date. Additional tickets for other family members can be purchased through the South Bend Cubs. When it comes to ordering these tickets, schools have two options:

1. The school collects the proper information and money from the parents and relays it to the Cubs. If you choose this option, you will receive a form from the SB Cubs that will require the total number of free tickets needed (for the students) as well as the total number of additional tickets that are being purchased. This is to be filled out as a school (or class) for every ticket needed (students and additional) and returned to the Cubs with the check (or other payment) for the additional tickets. By choosing option one you are ensuring that your entire group will be seated together (to the best of our ability) and, in return, the school will receive $1 back for every additional ticket that is sold.

2. Each parent calls in individually and orders their family’s tickets (including the free one for the child) on their own. If you choose this option, there will be no money exchanged by the school and the school won’t be responsible for collecting information. However we will not be able to seat the school groups together and there will be no money kicked back to the school.

Mascot Appearance

Stu and Swoop will be visiting participating schools to help promote the Reading Club throughout the months of February and March -- would your school be interested in hosting one of our mascots? Note: There are only so many schools that we'll be able to visit so not everyone will be receiving an appearance. This is just a matter of letting us know if your school would be interested or not.
