What would you like to see on the custom medallion?

Stormwater runoff pollution is one of the greatest threats to our region’s waterways. This occurs when rain or melted snow flows over watertight surfaces, such as driveways, sidewalks, and streets. Rather than naturally soaking into the earth, this runoff picks up litter, chemicals, and other pollutants on its way into storm drains. It is then discharged into the waterways we use for swimming, fishing, drinking water and more.

To help combat this pollution, storm drain medallions educate people about where storm drains lead to. Philadelphia Water has started using their own watershed-specific markers for the city; their medallions can be seen here

Why medallions? Medallions are easy to install, last a long time, and are easy to understand. Also, having one medallion for the Schuylkill will foster connections between different communities that all rely upon and live near the river.

For all these reasons, we want to design one medallion for the Schuylkill watershed outside of the city. This is where you come into the equation! We want feedback from our SAN partners to help us come up with the new design!

Please help us by completing the short survey below by December 6!
It's only THREE questions!

The SAN will have the right to change the logos and contact information on the medallions, to customize them for any municipality or group.

* 1. Which animal do you want to represent the Schuylkill River?

* 2. What color do you want to represent the Schuylkill?

* 3. Do you have any other suggestions for the custom medallions?
