Improving Employment Opportunities and Outcomes for People with Disabilities in

In 2018, Governor Edwards established a task force on employment for Louisianans with disabilities called the State As a Model Employer (SAME) Task Force.

The primary purpose for the State as Model Employer and the rationale for this annual survey, is to determine the number of individuals with disabilities who are currently employed within state government in order to ensure the census increases each year.  This data will also help state agencies determine whether they need to develop strategies to ensure individuals with disabilities are included and supported at their worksites. Your thoughtful consideration of this survey while help agencies to plan for enhanced disability and diversity inclusion.

The SAME Task Force recommended this anonymous survey be sent to all state employees annually in order to collect data on the percentage of state employees who self-identify as having a disability.  This is the third year that we’ve sent out this survey and your voluntary participation is not only greatly appreciated but it is also vital to the success of the initiative.  All responses are anonymous.  The survey should take 1 to 2 minutes to complete.

Questions should be emailed to GovernorSAME.Taskforce@la.gov.
