The SAIL Mentorship Program objectives are to:
  • Develop supportive and encouraging relationships
  • Guide nurses in their professional, personal, and interpersonal growth
  • Promote mutuality and sharing based on the needs of colleagues
  • Communicate information concerning expectations, learning opportunities, and stressors. 
Applicants are Registered Nurses employed at NHRMC in good standing within the state of North Carolina and may not be a mentor and preceptor to the same New Graduate at the same time. 
Applicants agree to a 6 month commitment, and possess many of the following qualities:
  • Commitment to the mission and goals of NHRMC
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Willingness to assist in the mentee’s growth 
  • Enthusiasm for the program and it's objectives
  • Ability to think strategically and embrace diversity
  • Ability to help the mentee learn from mistakes
  • Is patient and willing to try different means of reaching out to the mentee
  • Accountability — living up to expectations and meeting deadlines
  • Create time and availability
  • Is personable and approachable
Applicant understands that while their time of 1 hour each meeting will be compensated, any funds spent during these meetings will not be reimbursed. All conversations will be kept confidential.
