Sign-up Form for CalFresh Healthy Living LIAs:

The CalFresh Healthy Living Statewide Training Team is pleased to announce that SYSTEMS APPROACHES FOR HEALTHY COMMUNITIES (SAHC), is available! SAHC is a web-based training from the University of Minnesota (UMN) Extension designed to help professionals effectively apply policy, systems and environmental change (PSE) approaches to their work.

FIVE INTERACTIVE MODULES are the primary source of content with material presented through activities, examples, stories, reflection questions and interactive exercises. Viewed individually or in groups, it is best to complete all five, 50-60 minute modules within a flexible 4-6 week period.

FACILITATED DISCUSSION following the modules is an essential part of the program's success. It helps staff reflect on relevant program content and consider ways to apply strategies to strengthen their PSE work. UMN recommends local agency supervisors or team leaders lead these discussions during standing meetings or designated events.

FACILITATION SUPPORT LIAs in need of support to facilitate staff discussions about SAHC content may request individual support from the CalFresh Healthy Living Statewide Training Team.

FIDELITY to UMN’s design is important to the ongoing evaluation of this comprehensive PSE training. Consequently, applicants are encouraged to see that participants complete all sessions end engage in follow-up discussions to maximize learning.

If you are interested in bringing this program to your LIA, please submit this online form.  An email with registration instructions will be sent to the contact named in the application.

CEUs – Up to 5 hours of CEUs from the following credentialing organizations are available to those who complete the SAHC modules: CDR (Registered Dietitian Nutritionists); CPH (Certified in Public Health); and CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist).
