The SAFE Grants program is a one-year pilot that funds annual tuition costs, up to $6,500 on behalf of a qualified student, to eligible independent schools. Qualified students are those in grades K5-12 whose household adjusted gross income (AGI) is 300% or less of the federal poverty level. SAFE Grants are subgrants awarded through the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund, which is granted to the Office of Governor Henry McMaster by authorization of the CARES Act.
