How Would a Minneapolis Minimum Wage Affect Your Business? |
Why Your Input is Critical
As you have likely heard, the City of Minneapolis is currently considering a mandated $15 minimum wage for Minneapolis alone. Separately, an independent group, the Vote 15 Now MN Committee, has submitted a petition to the City Council to put this matter on the ballot this fall. As with any issue, there are many opinions and factors affecting this matter. The Southwest Business Association wants to ensure your needs and views as a business owner are considered in this discussion.
We need you to do two things for us to help you.
First, because this is a complicated economic question, your assistance in completely and accurately completing the entire survey will help the association provide facts and evidence of the impact to Southwest businesses. It is especially important to accurately fill out the section on the size of your business and the number of employees. To protect your privacy, your answers to this survey are anonymous.
Second, contact your City Council Member. The City Council will be discussing whether to put the matter of mandating a $15 minimum wage on the ballot at a City Council Committee of the Whole meeting on August 3, 2016. A vote as to whether to do so will be taken on August 5, 2016. We strongly encourage you to individually contact your Council Member to let them know how such an action would affect your business. Contact information for Council Members can be found at the end of this survey.
Please note the SWBA has not taken a formal position on this issue yet. The results of the survey are an important part of how we will formulate our position on this issue.
Thank you for your time and attention. We’ll keep you informed as this issue progresses.
