Due to the increased demand for renewable energy, the Montana Department of Labor and Industry is conducting a supplemental prevailing wage survey for both building and heavy construction services for Solar Photovoltaic Installers to be included in the 2018 Prevailing Wage Rate schedules.  Montana law requires the prevailing wage rate setting process to ensure employers are able to bid competitively on public works projects.

For purposes of the new classification, our agency will be utilizing the following definition:
Solar Photovoltaic Installer:  Assemble, install, or maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in compliance with site assessment and schematics. May include measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules. Work may occur on roofs or other structures or at ground level for solar farms.  May perform minor electrical work such as current checks.
