Course Description

Integrated Ballistics Identification System (IBIS) / Suspicious Firearms Index (SFI) Overview
This 1.5 hour training session is for Firearms Verifiers within a police agency who submit evidence to the CFS for examination.  This session will discuss:

1. The Science of Firearms Identification & Terminology
2. The Integrated Ballistics Identification Network (IBIS)
3. The types of cases the CFS Firearms Unit works on, including acceptance criteria, turnaround times for casework, and how to package and submit items to the CFS

By the end of the session, participants will demonstrate knowledge of how to create submissions and how to identify relevant information to aid the CFS examination process.
