Objectives:
1.     Apply principles of evidence-based practice in the treatment of patients with traumatic orthopedic injuries to enable successful surgical and rehabilitative outcomes.

2.     Describe common techniques for deltoid repair/reconstruction in acute and chronic setting.

3.     Describe how drug companies determine drug prices and make determinations for coverage.

4.     Describe the effect that a subspecialty fellowship has on the subspecialty population in a metropolitan area.

5.     Describe the foot and ankle subspecialty geographic distribution in the United States.

6.     Describe the general method of action and "on-label" uses of BMP-2 in spine surgery.

7.     Describe the historic literature on deltoid repair in ankle fractures and its limitations.

8.     Describe the rationale for early deltoid fixation/repair and potential complications associated with neglecting deltoid injuries.

9.     Determine how biomechanical principles affect interventional outcomes and recovery processes related to pediatric tibial fractures.

10.   Determine how commercial health plans are changing their medical policies to address potential changes to the nation's health care system in the future.

11.   Determine how the 2019 Texas Legislature's actions will affect your practice.

12.   Determine how the use of regional blocks in ankle fractures for patients with diabetes can affect patient outcomes.

13.   Determine the effect that hip pathologies have on overall sleep quality.

14.   Determine the impact of insurance status and additional socioeconomic markers on the timing to orthopaedic evaluation and treatment as well as rate of surgical intervention for meniscus tears in children, adolescents, and college aged athletes.

15.   Determine the viability of distal femur replacement for bilateral periprosthetic fractures and similar injuries.

Target Audience: The target audience will be orthopaedic surgeons, residents, fellows, and physicians with an interest in orthopaedic treatment. Athletic trainers, coaches, and orthopaedic clinic administrators/technical staff may also be interested in the program.
