Ecosystem Health: Are We On the Right Track?

WHO develops policy for new and small businesses?

.Do leaders prefer to be the 'windshield' or the 'bug'? (would they rather disrupt or be disrupted?) Is there a passionate commitment to bold/disruptive action, no matter who gets disrupted? (or do policymakers seek to avoid disrupting existing personal & organizational relationships?)
.Do institutions play well together? (which do, which don’t?) Who guards their turf and clout? (In public sector? Private sector?)
.Are bottom-up, entrepreneur-led networks supported visibly? Are connectors supported visibly? Who of your connectors are proactive and selfless?
.Remember the seagulls from Finding Nemo who keep saying "Mine, mine, mine..."?? Who are the worst seagulls in our entrepreneurial/innovation community?
.Are your community and its leaders truly committed to listening to entrepreneurs and engaging them in exploring the vision for the community? Do entrepreneurs lead those discussions?
.Are entrepreneurs fully represented in the conversation, not just those who speak for them?
.Does your local/state government have a clear, stated strategic intent to grow entrepreneurial activity? With specifics? Do civic officials take advantage of the bully pulpit to encourage entrepreneurs? Do civic officials have a visible presence in the entrepreneurial community?
.In the eyes of the entrepreneurial community, do leaders “get it”? Visibly? Believably?
.What would you REALLY like your community's leaders to know about growing new & small business?
.Where do you liive? (Do you want to help develop policy ideas for your state? If so, also tell us how to contact you!  We will keep it confidential.)
