Rubbish and Recycling Cart Program

In April Town Meeting will be asked to approve the purchase of rubbish and recycling carts for every Reading household.  This will better prepare the Town financially for when the current rubbish/recycling collection contract expires in 2026 and the town considers moving to automated collections.  Advantages of the carts include mitigating rodent issues, rain filling up uncovered barrels, litter blowing around neighborhoods, and offering better aesthetics to the Town on collection days.  Each household would be provided with (1) cart for rubbish and (1) cart for recycling.  We are issuing this survey to obtain resident feedback about the proposed program.
