Concept #1
: Redevelop the Bear Cut Bridge and Rickenbacker Causeway
as a unified project using the 'Shoreline' concept
,' which includes a fully elevated viaduct across Virginia Key. This approach prioritizes public safety and traffic flow by separating vehicles from cyclists and pedestrians. By reducing ground-level asphalt, it will help to mitigate flooding and create more public beach and park space.

Concept #2
: Redevelop a portion of the Rickenbacker Causeway,
excluding the Bear Cut Bridge,
by partially elevating the roadway on Virginia Key to improve traffic flow and public safety with some grade separation. This concept would create several underpasses to allow east-west access. It also includes a substantial stormwater management system to mitigate flooding caused by the new roadway’s barrier effect and increased impervious surfaces.
