A reminder that core internal medicine residents (R1-3) typically have elective time totaling up to 8 weeks (exceptionally up to 12 weeks), spread across their 3 core internal medicine years, which they can use to undertake a research project. It is expected that they play a leading role (with suitable supervision) in any such project.
