Redlands LGBT Community Survey |
1. Introduction
What is the purpose of the survey?
This survey is part of the Queensland Association of Healthy Communities’ Outer Metro Health Promotion project. Currently we are ‘mapping’ the Redlands area in order to identify how same-sex attracted, transgender and intersex people ‘do queer’ in this region. The survey area includes the suburbs of Cleveland, Thorneside, Wellington Point, Birkdale, Ormiston, Alexandra Hills, Capalaba, Thornlands, Sheldon, Victoria Point, Mount Cotton, Redland Bay, North Stradbroke Island, Coochiemudlo Island, Lamb Island, Macleay Island, Karragarra Island and Russell Island. The survey results will not be published in any public forum. The information provided will only be used in-house to assist QAHC to develop better strategies for working with the LGBT community and delivering HIV/AIDS and STI prevention programs in the Redlands area.
Who can do the survey?
We want to hear from people from all walks of life, including gay, lesbian and bisexual people, members of the Trans* community, and people of any orientation who work or socialise within the LGBT community. You may either live in Redlands, work there or have lived there previously.
How to complete the survey
There are no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answers, and we encourage you to use the space provided to include any feedback or comments on the survey.
For the purposes of this survey, the term LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Trans* identified people. The term 'Queer' is also used, to refer to people whose sexual orientation falls outside of the category of heterosexual, or whose gender identity is different to their birth sex.
This survey is CONFIDENTIAL. No identifying information will be collected, unless you indicate that you wish to be contacted by QAHC in the future. The information being collected is to be used for research purposes only, and no individual survey results will be shared with any other organization.

Warm Regards,
QAHC Outer Metro Health Promotion Team
