FaithWorks Volunteer Opportunities

2.Francis Court 1 (transitional housing program for homeless families), has a House Meeting on the last Wednesday of each month. During this meeting we serve a meal to our residents.

3.Our Youth Advocate often plans workshops and classes onsite for our youth but she is largely outnumbered :)

4.As a non-profit, we heavily rely on fundraisers and donations to keep our programs thriving.

5.One of the best gifts that we have here at FaithWorks, is the gift of life! Throughout our programs, on average, we welcome 3 babies per year.

Are you able to put together items for a welcome basket or donate clothing or supplies to help support our homeless or at risk families to welcome the new baby?
6.A major component of our supportive services is classes and workshops to help clients and resident learn, grow and become the healthiest versions of themselves. We currently offer one online class (via Zoom), every Wednesday from 5:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. and when our new location is open, we can expand to in person classes.
Currently, we rotate teachers and are always working to develop and locate new curriculum for these classes. Some that we have offered in the past are; budgeting, organization (paperwork), menu planning/shopping lists, dream boards, recovery support, attitudes, Triple P Positive Parenting, communication, affirmations, and hands on cleaning. The sky is the limit and this time is used to connect with residents/clients and get them on track and excited about a particular topic.

7.FaithWorks relies on a dedicated and passionate Board of Directors to help steer this mighty ship! Our Board does many things but their main duty is to help guide organizational planning and development, support and evaluate the executive director, participate in fundraising and monthly board meetings.

8.Francis Court I has 12 units for homeless families. Families typically enter with only a few personal items. One of the amazing blessings they receive is home furnishings and household supplies that are provided by and set up by apartment sponsors.  Families who complete the program are able to take the furnishings with them when they exit. This supportive service has been integral to the transition process for so many homeless families, but it is a big job!

9.We try to provide festive and fun activities to encourage community and tradition amongst our residents and clients. Every year we provide Christmas, Halloween and other fun parties.

Are you great at throwing parties? Or do you have the desire to offer assistance for occasional events? 
10.Faithworks now has a food and supplies pantry that is utilized to supplement household food supplies or provide for clients during an emergency. Are you able to donate food/hygiene/household items or help organize (stock) the pantries?
11.Winter Coat & Cold Weather Drive
FaithWorks helps coordinate the annual Point-in-Time Count for Shasta County, which takes place during the last week of January. For the past two years, FaithWorks has coordinated a winter item drive leading up to the count so that we can distribute new and gently used coats, blankets, gloves, hats, socks, and other cold-weather necessities during our day-of-count event. This would be an amazing project for a church group to take on. I know winter feels a long way away right now, but it always comes faster than we think!

13.Parkview Donation Closet/Resource Room
We are excited about this! We have already identified a storage area inside the community room at our new Parkview location that we would love to turn into a well-organized resource area for our case managers and clients.

Currently, children's clothing, diapers, shoes, and similar donations are stored in a shed at Francis Court. Unfortunately, the organization and accessibility aren't great, which means items don't get utilized nearly as often as they should. The shed also isn't climate controlled, so we can't safely store food or many hygiene products there.

Once Parkview opens, we would love to have a small volunteer team essentially "adopt" that resource area—not necessarily by supplying everything themselves, but by helping sort, organize, stock, rotate, and maintain it so that it stays ready to serve people. The goal would be for a case manager to be able to walk in and quickly find diapers, clothing, hygiene supplies, food, household necessities, or whatever else a client might need. I think that could become a really meaningful ongoing ministry opportunity for a group that enjoys organizing and serving behind the scenes. Can you help with this?
