Leading Age Virginia and Art for the Journey present Opening Minds through Art (OMA)

LeadingAge Virginia has been awarded a three-year grant by DMAS and the Civil Monetary Reinvestment program to expand the best-practice program, Opening Minds through Art (OMA), carried out by Art for the Journey.

OMA is an award-winning, evidence-based, intergenerational art-making program for people with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of neurocognitive disorders. Its failure-free program provides opportunities for creative self-expression and social engagement for people with dementia.

Up to 102 Virginia long-term care communities with SNF units can receive startup funding and certification training to adopt the program. Selected communities will receive two scholarships for staff members to attend the OMA Facilitator Training program (valued at $1500) and $2000 to purchase art supplies upon completion of the training.

Thank you for your interest in OMA. We look forward to reviewing your application submission!
