Criminal Discovery Survey

This survey is being distributed by the Criminal Law Committee of the New York City Bar. The Criminal Law Committee’s members include current and former prosecutors and defense attorneys interested in issues affecting all aspects of the criminal justice system. The purpose of the survey is to elicit information and opinions from state prosecutors, defense lawyers who defend state criminal cases and judges who oversee state criminal matters on the criminal discovery rules and practices in their jurisdiction. While the survey references discovery practices by county, please include information regarding any significant procedures that are utilized by local city, town and village courts which would inform this survey. Part of the aim of the survey is to collect data that can inform the City Bar’s position on potential legislative options at the state level to improve how criminal discovery is conducted.
