What is the New York Wine & Grape Foundation Export Program?

If your winery is interested in learning what it takes to break into international markets, and engaging in marketing activities outside of the U.S., then the New York Wine & Grape Foundation's Export Program is for you.

Through a grant from the USDA’s Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS) and the Market Access Program (MAP), the New York Wine & Grape Foundation assists New York wineries seeking to explore opportunities in markets abroad – we call this the “Export Program.”

The Export Program for 2019 is about to begin and all New York State wineries are invited to participate. Export participants do not have to be current members of the New York Wine & Grape Foundation.

Even as we are wrapping up activities for last program year (July 1st, 2018 – June 30th, 2019) our team is already working in partnership with our consultants on developing a schedule of marketing activities for the upcoming Export Program year beginning on July 1st.

This form is for wineries who would like to actively participate in the Export Program. If you have not read the Export Program Overview, we strongly recommend that you click here and learn more about the opportunities and responsibilities associated with this initiative

Please note that the information collected here will be confidential and only accessible to NYWGF staff. Information may be shared in aggregate for educational and reporting purposes.  Please feel free to contact Valerie Ross at (518) 229-3765 or email her at valerieross@nywgf.org with any questions.

* 16. In general, the New York Wine & Grape Foundation’s Export Program provides resources to four (4) different types of wineries. We recognize that one winery may be in many of these categories depending on which target market(s) they are pursuing.

Explorers: These wineries are at the very beginning stages of exploring the export process and are not represented outside of the U.S.

Experienced: These wineries may have participated in the Export program in the past and need guidance on how to make best use of general marketing activities like tradeshows and large tastings.

Recognized: These wineries have owners or winemakers that may already be recognized in international markets and, by participating, can help the Export Program make an immediate impact on the brand recognition of New York wines.

Established: These wineries have already found success in various export markets. They may already have representation with an importer/distributor, they are familiar with market trends and compliance requirements and need outlets to set their wine.
