Voting Period

Dear WID Mid-Atlantic Chapter members,

You are encouraged to participate in the election for President and Secretary for the two-year term of October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2022. This is your opportunity to elect an outstanding candidate to lead the mission of our chapter: to advance the role and recognition of women through professional development, networking, scholarships, outreach, and philanthropy.

Position descriptions are below:

President (Term: October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2022)
• Oversees annual planning, including activities and budget.
• Reviews chapter financial condition and approves all expenditures.
• Develops policies, as appropriate, to aid in administering chapter events.
• Implements WID National policies at the chapter level.
• Represents or ensures chapter representation at WID National meetings.
• Ensures proper protocol for guests and visitors is observed.
• Represents or ensures chapter representation at APG events, NDIA local chapter, PAN, and other organizational meetings as appropriate.
• Signs all contracts on behalf of the chapter.
• Designate board member(s) to participate in and support one or more divisions, i.e. “Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Workforce Program (STEM)” or “Small Business”, etc.
• Ensures chapter board members are WID members in good standing.
• Designates a board member as a liaison to local NDIA chapter board to promote mutual support and joint ventures (should be reciprocal).
• Ensures chapter bylaws are reviewed every two years and approved by chapter leadership, and then by WID National.
• Ensures chapter leaders have working knowledge of the content in WID Mid-Atlantic Chapter Operations Manual.
• Participates in the bi-monthly chapter call conducted with WID National.

Secretary (Term: October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2022)
• Prepares agenda for executive and general board meetings.
• Keeps minutes of all executive and general board meetings.
• Maintains chapter records on Google Drive.
• Responsible for checking the chapter email account and responding appropriately or providing email to the President or committee chair for an appropriate response.
• Coordinates upcoming local events with WID National and PAN to prevent schedule conflicts within a geographic area.
• Generates letters of confirmation and/or appreciation for speakers and other individuals providing support to the chapter for either President’s or Vice President’s signature.
• Issues letters of congratulations or condolences, get well cards, or other appropriate correspondence upon agreement of the executive committee.
• Performs duties as delegated by the President.
• Performs other duties as assigned per the chapter bylaws and operations manual.

Please cast your vote by September 30, 2020. All nominees are current chapter members with understanding of the duties and time commitment.

Newly elected officers will be announced on October 1, 2020 and will shadow the outgoing officers throughout the month of October. The officer installation ceremony will occur in October 2020.
