The Reconnecting Youth Campaign Advocacy Academy is a yearlong set of activities to help local and state Opportunity Youth organizations become great advocates, both for the Reconnecting Youth Campaign and for any local or state campaigns that ignite their passions.

Benefits of Participating in the Advocacy Academy
  • Be part of the team to secure victory for the Reconnecting Youth Campaign! Each month we will provide you the tools to take one specific action to encourage your local member of Congress to support the campaign, and we will host a conference call for you to learn and update your colleagues across the country on your successes.
  • Become an advocacy guru! Each month we will host an online training on advanced advocacy strategies and tactics led by leaders in the field. You can use your new skills not only to support the Reconnecting Youth Campaign, but also to work on any local or state campaigns you are interested in!
  • Get access to state of the art advocacy tools. We will help you design online action alerts for any local, state or federal advocacy campaigns of your choosing, and we will post them on our sophisticated action alert platform at no cost to you! We will even seamlessly embed your alerts on your own website! We will also provide you frequent government relations intelligence reports of what your state and federal policymakers are saying and doing related to Opportunity Youth, and track related state and federal legislation.
  • Co-design the Advocacy Academy! As the founding cohort, you will have an active role in helping to shape the academy activities both for yourself and for future cohorts!
By working together, we can create and design sustainable solutions to address your community’s most pressing issues. This work will be achieved by collaborating on a series of strategic planning calls, presentations, webinars and videos. By developing a concrete understanding about advocacy strategies, building relationships with key leaders, communicating with Congress, coordinating events and meetings with legislative staffers, direct and grassroots lobbying and E-advocacy techniques, your organization will receive a broad range of advocacy supports in order to activate, mobilize and organize around the issues that are impacting your community.
