We appreciate your feedback.

We are interested in what type of analgesic protocol you would prescribe/suggest for each of the patients below with painful medical conditions. It can be assumed that all patients are healthy, young adults except for the condition described.

Question Title

Image
Abdominal pain in a fully vaccinated female cat. The cat has been anorexic for 2 days with increasing lethargy and social isolation (hiding). Today the cat presented with vomiting/diarrhea of 24 hours duration. IV fluids have been delivered for 2 hours and the patient is now more alert. Physical exam is normal except the cat is very painful on abdominal palpation. Laboratory analysis confirms pancreatitis.
6-year old male cat with acute urethral obstruction. All serum chemistry is normal. The cat is alert, vocalizing repeatedly and difficult to handle, presumably because of pain and a high fear/anxiety/stress level.
Potential brachial plexus avulsion in a young male cat that reportedly was jumping from a high shelf and got its forelimb momentarily stuck on the shelf and hung by its forelimb for several seconds. The cat is not using his leg, is dragging his foot and is extremely painful on palpation. Deep pain and digital pulses are present and there are no radiographic changes. This owner wants to do everything possible to save the leg.

The drug/technique can be used at any time during the procedure (pre-, intra- or post-operative) except for discharge, which is a separate question. This is a general question, more specific details on which drugs/treatments you would use will appear later in the survey.
