6. Bargaining priorities


The BCGEU is asking members working in Community Health Services, Component 8, about your priorities for bargaining in 2012. Please take a minute to share your views with us.
1.How important are the following compensation increases to you for this round of bargaining?

5.Do you prefer a short term illness and injury plan (STIIP) or weekly indemnity plan (WI) which would provide a regular income for several months or would you prefer to keep the current plan where sick days are accumulated?
6.The long term disability benefit plan should be improved.
7.Leave from work to attend to personal and family responsibilities should be more accessible.
8.Income while on maternity/parental leave (provided in Employment Insurance) should be topped up by the employer.
9.Jobs and promotions are awarded fairly and without favouritism in my workplace.
10.Safe check-in procedures for employees working alone should be added to the collective agreement.
11.We need stronger language to prevent bullying, harassment and misuse of managerial authority.
12.We should have stronger language to prevent arbitrary shift and scheduling changes by the employer.
13.We need provisions to allow a longer work day for a shorter work week.
14.We need stronger language to oblige employers to post AND fill vacancies.
15.We need stronger language to oblige our employers to provide regular training and upgrading.
16.I am concerned about losing my job in the next year.
17.I am concerned there will be job losses at my agency because of contracting out and privatization.
18.We need provisions to protect my job if my employer's service contract goes to another agency.
