Re-opening of Schools

Dear Capital Prep Harbor Schools Families and Scholars,

I trust that you are well. Governor Lamont and Commissioner of Education Cardona announced that all Connecticut schools will return to a full-day academic schedule this fall if the incidence of COVID-19 remains at current levels. The plan is grounded in health data and charges each district to adhere to stringent safety guidelines. At this time, we anticipate that Capital Prep Harbor Upper/Lower School students will report back to school on August 10, 2020.

The following are some of the core safety measures the Governor stated that will need to be included in each district's plan.

Maximize social distancing — including separating desks, as far as possible, and keeping apart while in gymnasiums.

· Frequent hand washing or use of hand sanitizer.

· Wear face coverings that completely cover the nose and mouth while in the building.

· Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting of spaces and surfaces.

· Cohort classes K-6 and 7-12 (when feasible) so they can work together and keep cross-contamination low.

We recognize that parent and community feedback is essential for our district's success. In order to begin the planning process for a successful re-entry, please complete the survey by Tuesday, July 7, 2020. The survey will provide our central office administration with critical information needed to guide decision-making during the summer months. We will communicate the re-entry plan well in advance of the commencement of the school year.

We would like to thank you in advance for your participation.

In partnership,
Capital Prep Harbor Administration
