6.Parent/Caregiver: What did you see or hear in the film that you hope the young people in your life understand?
One of the key elements of the film that emerged was a disconnect in the messages that trusted adults want to send to young people in their lives about substance use and what young people hear them say. We hope you will take the opportunity to discuss expectations around substance use by creating a family substance use statement. As a family, work together to create a shared “statement” about your family’s position on substance use that addresses the following points:

-The parents’ or trusted adults’ expectations on substance use in general, or one or more substances that have particular relevance at this time.

-Their fears and concerns about the substance or behavior.

-The young peoples’ understanding of when they might be exposed to the particular substance, and what that might feel like.

-Agreements on how to stay safe.
