Your voice mattersThis autumn, we heard from over 500 patients, family members and healthcare professionals about questions they believed research should answer. We have been working alongside a multiprofessional team, patients and their families to review and condense the questions into a list of 59 summary questions.
These include questions about:
- access and admission to ICU
- diagnosis, treatments and support
- outcomes in ICU and/or during recovery
Now, we need you to tell us which of these questions are the most important to you.Who can take part?We need to hear from:
- Adults (18+) living in the UK who have had an intensive care unit (ICU) stay.
- Family members, friends, or carers of a person who had an adult ICU stay (including those who have been bereaved).
- Healthcare professionals working with adults in ICU or with patients recovering after ICU (including rehabilitation and support services).
How to participate
- Read the longlist of 59 questions.
- Select up to 10 questions that you feel are the most urgent or important. We have added two stages to help you narrow down the list. We expect this will take you 15 minutes.
- You can also choose to tell us a little about yourself to help us ensure we are hearing from a diverse range of people.
What happens next?Once the survey closes on
2 March. We will analyse the results to shortlist the most popular questions. These will be taken to a final workshop where patients, families, and healthcare professionals will agree on the Top 10 intensive care research priorities for the next decade.
This work is funded by the Intensive Care Society and supported by the James Lind Alliance and the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).
Keeping your information secure This survey is anonymous, but we will ask for some information about you to help us know who is responding so we can make sure as wide a section of society responds as possible.
