23.If Goldenfields Water could reduce discoloured water events but required an increase in water charges, how supportive would you be of this investment?
Based on customer feedback, Goldenfields Water has identified an opportunity to invest in new water treatment infrastructure to reduce the frequency of discoloured water events. These events are associated with naturally occurring iron and manganese in the water supply.

The proposed investment would involve:
  • An upgraded water treatment plant for the Oura water scheme to reduce discoloured water events
  • A new water treatment plant for the Mt Arthur water scheme to reduce discoloured water events
These projects would provide an increased level of service beyond what is currently provided. If Goldenfields Water were to proceed with these projects, an increase in the typical residential bill would be required.

The estimated annual increase would be:
  • Oura water scheme: approximately $810 per year
  • Mt Arthur water scheme: approximately $140 per year
  • Combined estimated increase: approximately $950 per year
24.Thinking about the proposed service improvements to reduce discoloured water events, would you be willing to pay an additional amount per year on your residential water bill?
25.How important is reducing the frequency of discoloured water events to your household?
26.If you were not willing to pay the full estimated increase of $950 per year, what is the maximum annual increase you would be willing to pay to reduce the frequency of discoloured water events per year?
