In the City of Saskatoon (City) residential areas which are adjacent to popular destinations like commercial areas and major institutions may experience significant on-street parking congestion from visitor traffic.
The Residential Parking Program (Program) applies parking time restrictions to these areas to promote visitor vehicle turnover and allow residents access to street parking. The program is governed by Bylaw No. 7862, Residential Parking Program Bylaw, 1999.
Currently the City is reviewing the Program to address recent regulatory changes, increasing growth pressures in core neighbourhoods, and to identify other opportunities for improvement. The Program was last reviewed in 2019.
The Program contains two types of zones: residential parking zones (RPP) and limited residential parking zones (LRPP).
RPP zones have active-patrol parking enforcement while LRPP zones have complaint-driven enforcement. The City has three RPP zones and five LRPP zones, maps for each zone may be found on the Program’s website at Saskatoon.ca.
Information collected from this survey will be used by Administration to make recommendations to amend the Program, which will be brought forward to City Council for their consideration.
