Anxiety medication

Millions of Benzodiazapine prescriptions are written each year by Australian doctors, including for drugs more commonly known by names such as Valium, Xanax, Ativan and Halcion.

These are used to treat conditions such as anxiety, panic disorders, sleeplessness, depression and alcohol dependency.

However new information suggests that there may be issues caused by long-term usage of benzodiazepine. We’re asking people to tell us about their experience so that potential problems can be addressed before they arise.

Health Issues Centre is a Not for Profit organisation and a peak consumer voice on issues affecting public health. We are working to making the health system better for everyone.  If you have had experience with these medications, we would like to hear your story.
1.What led you to being given this medication?
