FMEA Reopening Survey Question Title * 1. FMSD is currently planning on reopening in the fall with a hybrid model that integrates distance learning and in-person teaching. The situation is still fluid with many important components still to be worked out. FMEA has not formally agreed to any particular model. What is your preference at this time: To return to work in August with only distance learning and no in-person instruction To return to work in August with all in-person instruction To return to work in August with a hybrid of distance learning and in-person instruction To return to work in August with distance learning and moving to a hybrid model by phasing in the in-person instruction over time I don't know yet Other (please specify) Question Title * 2. Due to COVID19 the state is now only mandating 4 hours of daily instruction for grades 4-8, and 3 hours and 50 minutes for grades 1-3. The research shows that maximizing in-person contact will support students educationally and emotionally, however that leaves less planning time for teachers. You will not be expected to produce videos for distance learning but it obviously still takes a lot of time to prep. Assuming that there is at least four hours of teacher prep time on Fridays, (we are trying to negotiate this) how long would you like the student in-person instructional day to be next year? I want in-person daily instructional time to be the minimum of roughly 4 hours I want in-person daily instructional time to be a bit over the minimum, around 4.5 hours I want in-person daily instructional time to be 5 hours daily I want in-person instructional time to be between 5 to 6 hours a day, in line with the sample schedule that was sent out by the district. Other (please specify) Question Title * 3. There will be some distance-learning-only positions available next year. Those teachers will be teaching a stand alone program to those students who opt for distance-learning-only. Do you plan to apply for one of these positions and if so will you come to work if you don't get it? I plan to apply for distance-only teaching, but will work in-person if I don't get the position I plan to apply for distance-only teaching and I will not be returning in the fall if it means returning in-person I am ok returning in-person in the fall and will not apply for distance-only learning Other (please specify) Question Title * 4. Do you think the district should require students in grade K-6 to wear a mask in class? Note this is already a requirement for 7th and 8th graders. Yes No Other (please specify) Question Title * 5. What are your biggest concerns at this time? Question Title * 6. What else would you like to add that has not been addressed in this survey? Done
