DENVER FIRE/POLICE SELF ASSESSMENT
This Self Assessment is to assist individuals who are interested in applying with the Denver Civil Service Commission to determine if they meet the minimum qualifications required to be a Denver Firefighter or a Denver Police Officer. Failure to meet any of the minimum qualifications will disqualify an individual however, some of the standards have particular time limits. An individual may meet the qualification once the time limits have lapsed.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES OF A DENVER FIREFIGHTER
Under supervision, Firefighters respond to fire alarms with assigned company and assist in extinguishing fires in the protection of lives and property; assist in cleaning and caring for apparatus, equipment and quarters; administer first aid treatment; assist in rescue work in various emergencies; and inspect buildings for fire hazards and compliance with fire prevention ordinances. At various points in their careers, firefighters may also be assigned to work in support divisions such as, but not limited to, human resources, fire dispatch, or fire prevention.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES OF A DENVER POLICE OFFICER
Police Officers are responsible for performing the essential functions of the job which include the suppression of crime, the protection of life and property, the investigation of criminal activity, the apprehension and arrest of violators of the criminal and traffic laws, the recovery of stolen property and the regulation of non-criminal conduct. Police Officers patrol an assigned sector, precinct or area, familiarizing themselves with businesses, public facilities, people, etc. Police Officers investigate all unusual persons, circumstances, and vehicular accidents; make detailed reports of all such occurrences; and respond to all police calls in their area, as ordered by the dispatcher.

False representation of information on the official application and in all testing/screening processes is grounds for immediate disqualification.
