About this Survey

This survey is part of the Respect Know Act (RKA) project by ADACAS, which aims to create better access to health services for people with impaired decision making ability living in the ACT.

We would like to know about the needs and experiences of carers in supporting health care decisions for people with impaired decision making ability. This will allow us so to recommend changes that support a carer's vital role.

We want to ensure the availability of support for people with impaired decision making ability when making a healthcare decision. We hope this will improve the active participation of people with impaired decision making with health services.

Throughout this survey we use the phrase ‘people with impaired decision making ability’. This phrase includes but is not limited to people with intellectual impairment or dementia, people experiencing mental ill-health or people with an acquired brain injury. It also refers to people whose decision making ability may not be recognised by others.
