Electronic Remittance Delivery

Changes to Electronic Remittances

South Dakota is working to align the information you receive through paper remittance advices(PRA's) to information you receive on the electronic remittance advices(ERA's) (835 and 277U). We are currently working on improvements and are implementing those enhancements as they are completed (i.e. error mapping improvements). Once that effort is completed, we plan to discontinue PRA's for providers that can receive this information electronically. We are seeking your feedback to understand how you use this differently than the electronic version, and the timeframe you might need to make modifications to the information you receive either from your clearinghouse or your current information systems. Providers not currently receiving their 277U are strongly encouraged to work with their clearinghouses and billing agents in order to receive this electronic file which provides the status of claims.

For providers that do not have the capability to receive an ERA we will have a solution available by approximately October 2016. We are developing an online portal which providers will be able to retrieve a PDF of the current version of PRA's. Once this is fully implemented we will no longer mail PRA's.

Please complete the following short survey by close of business on Wednesday June 29th. Your responses will help inform the timeline to discontinue sending PRA information for providers that can receive it electronically. Thank you for your feedback.
