Reaching Higher NH is looking to create a framework for defining a high quality public education to inform our work on state education policy. This framework will include a vision for the outcomes of a high quality public education – what should our graduates know and be able to do, and what does it mean for communities – and will outline the components of an educational experience that are core to achieving that vision.

By defining the components and outcomes of a high quality public education, Reaching Higher will be better able to evaluate the impacts of proposed policies on our schools now and into the future. Our aim is to develop a broad framework that provides a lens for stakeholders to understand whether proposed legislation advances or impedes access to a high quality education. This framework will be based on community input and on research and evidence; and as ideas and evidence evolves, so will our framework.

To create this framework, we hope to draw on existing definitions of quality that exist in districts and schools throughout the state. Our framework is not meant to replace existing definitions or measures, rather, we want to be sure it represents the experience and expertise of NH educators, administrators, and communities. To that end, we hope you will share with us your definition of a high quality education to help inform our framework and our work analyzing education policy in the state.
