Background

I'm interested in your thoughts on the Suburban Rail Loop. This is a significant transport, housing and infrastructure project that aims to upgrade public transport and provide new housing as Melbourne grows. The Suburban Rail Loop is estimated to cost $34.5 billion including up to $11.5 billion from the Federal government.
According to current plans, the project will transform Goldstein, adding 30,000 to 40,000 residents to Bayside.
I am concerned we may end up with the housing, but not the transport and the services to go with it. For a project of this size, it's important to consider what that means for this community and for new residents, to ensure we have what the community needs, not just what the government wants.
