My Brother’s Keeper: Film Viewing of "Courage to Care"

Join us Wednesday, January 10 for a special viewing of “Courage to Care,” a short film inspired by Denver’s My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Initiative. The documentary will emphasize the challenging circumstances faced by today's youth and stimulate an open dialogue about the best tools and ways we can work together to strengthen our resources to help boys and young men of color reach their full potential.

MBK was created by President Obama in 2014 to make the American Dream available to all boys and young men of color by eliminating gaps in opportunities and outcomes. In Denver, Mayor Michael B. Hancock and the Office of Children’s Affairs are working with youth, community members, nonprofits, educational institutions, businesses and other government agencies to identify the issues that most often keep this population from achieving success.

Mayor Hancock will be in attendance to highlight some of these issues and share why Denver made an early commitment to President Obama’s initiative. In addition, Leadership Foundation Alumni will have the opportunity to engage in facilitated small-group discussions, which will be led by various MBK25 Honorees currently working across our city to improve the lives of boys and young men of color. The program will also feature the following presenters:

Erin Brown, executive director of Denver’s Offiice of Children’s Affairs
Lorena Zimmer, director of the Denver Opportunity Youth Initiative
Antwan Jefferson, Ph.D., a clinical assistant professor of human development and family relations and urban community teacher of education for University of Colorado Denver

If you plan to attend please RSVP below.
Wednesday, January 10 from 5-8 p.m.
