Lake Pend Oreille/Pend Oreille River Lake Levels and Boat Accessibility - Waterfront Residential and Boaters

This questionnaire is designed to address boat accessibility and visitation in the months of July, Aug and Sept, but the value of recreation in our area goes far beyond boating.  If you don't own a boat or waterfront property, but feel a 1 to 3 foot drop in lake elevation during the summer would impact scenic beauty, quality of life, or other forms of recreation, this questionnaire is still for you.

The full, normal “summer pool” level for Lake Pend Oreille is 2062.5 feet, but it fluctuates within a half-foot, so for purposes of this study we are establishing summer pool as 2062’. We are aware that the elevations on the Pend Oreille River differ from that measured at the Hope gauge, but since that is where the measurement is taken, please answer based on the elevations at Hope.

Thank you for taking the time to fill this out! We are under a bit of a time crunch and it only takes 2 minutes!
1.Do you own property on Lake Pend Oreille, the Pend Oreille River or any tributary impacted by Albeni Falls Dam Operations?
2.Do you own a dock on Lake Pend Oreille, the Pend Oreille River or any tributary impacted by the operations of Albeni Falls Dam?
3.If you own a dock, is it fixed or floating?
4.If you own a dock, do you also have a “fixed boat lift”?
5.What time of year do you typically boat or spend time on LPO and POR?
6.What size boat do you typically use?
7.What boat launch do you typically use?
8.If, during July and August the lake level was lowered, at what elevation would your dock, boat lift or overall lake access become unusable or unattainable?
9.Lake Pend Oreille typically begins its winter draft around September 18th.  At what elevation do you need to remove your boat so you can effectively reach a launch, prevent damage to the boat, or remove it from a lift?
10.Would any of the aforementioned drops in lake level during  June, July, August and September affect your use of local area tourist facilities?
11.If your particular situation doesn't relate to the questions asked above, but you feel recreations benefits would be negatively impacted by a lower lake level in the summer, please comment here.  Examples might include scenic beauty, quality of life (health), property values, or other forms of recreation.
