What does CIDE do?
What does CIDE do?
The Committee on Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (CIDE) provides advice and recommendations to develop and support a campus-wide culture of inclusion. CIDE members engage in a collegewide effort to actively examine and propose strategies and pathways to amplify and accelerate our efforts to create a more equitable environment for all members of the Scripps campus community. This examination focuses on processes and resources to combat systemic racism, support students, faculty, and staff of color, and advance social justice on campus. It is the mission of CIDE to foster a community that reflects the values set forth in the College’s Mission Statement, Principles of Diversity, Principles of Community, and Scripps Centennial Plan. The mission includes modeling and advising on ways to increase the level of mindful and thoughtful discourse, prevent bias incidents in and outside the classroom, develop trust within the community, and to formulate a vision and determine what is needed to achieve the vision. Committee members serve for one year and represent a broad range of constituents, including faculty, staff, students, and an alumna.
