A new political group has emerged in the European Parliament, under the leadership of Marine le Pen. This is a late result of the EP 2014 elections which lead to a further fragmentation of power, i.e. the big groups became smaller, while the small groups gained seats. Now, even a combination between the two main groups (EPP+S&D) narrowly surpasses 50% of votes, which results in the need of multiple-group coalition building.
