Session Description

The content covered will be Manitoba legal reporting requirements, the MPI process for making decisions about medical fitness to drive, an overview of health conditions and driving with an emphasis on substance use disorder and the effects of drugs on driving performance, and upcoming changes to impaired driving legislation.

This session will be of interest to family physicians because they should be aware of pending changes to the legal reporting requirements. Since multiple classes of drugs may effect driver performance, primary care providers are in a position to inform their patients and the public at large of the potential risks. The changes to impaired driving legislation are intended to make the roadways safer for all of us and doctors play a major role in health promotion and safety in our communities.

Drug Impaired Driving is certified for 1.5 Mainpro+ credits.
