EYEJ Impact 25 Youth Council Member Application - 2017

EYEJ’s mission is to empower and amplify the voices of teens and pre-teens by bridging them with diverse individuals to engage in interactive discussions centered around social justice.

EYEJ is introducing the first Impact 25 Youth Council. The council will meet five times through the 2017-2018 school year and will be made up of Cleveland Youth ages 15-25.  EYEJ and the Youth Council will work on creating solutions related to Cleveland’s young adult population including but not limited to youth murders and gang violence.  The final meeting in April 30, 2018 in which the potential solutions will be presented to the Cleveland Police including the Chief of Police, Commanders, Community Leaders, and representatives of the Cleveland Indians. 

The council members will be paid in total $475 at $95 per session.  There are a total of 5 sessions.  Payment will be made at the end of each meeting session. However, to qualify to be one of the 19 council members, you must participate in all five sessions.  Attendance is critical.  The positions are open to all Cleveland youth ages 15-25 (must be no older than 25 by November 2017).  Meetings will be held in November 18, 2017, January 20, 2018, March 10, 2018, April 7, 2018, with the final presentation meeting being April 30, 2018.  More details will be available soon on times of meeting.  Meetings will be held at the EYEJ office - 3535 Perkins Ave.  Cleveland OH 44114.

The Youth Council is in partnership with the Partnership for Safer Cleveland, and made possible by the Larry Doby Fund.  If you are age 15-25 and reside outside the City of Cleveland but would like to volunteer and participate in this initiative – we do have Volunteer roles available.  Please email hello@eyej.org for more information.
