Research, development and extension needs for the grains industry in the next five years
All grain growers pay a levy for research, development and extension (RD&E) work undertaken by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC). The levy, combined with matched Government contributions, delivers about $200 million a year to GRDC.
Where and how this contribution is spent is determined by GRDC's RD&E strategic plan. GRDC is currently preparing the 2018-23 plan and has released a discussion paper about it inviting feedback from growers. There are a number of ways you can have your say directly to GRDC. Find out more by clicking this link GRDC Strategic R&D Plan.
To encourage as many growers as possible to get involved and have their say, GrainGrowers has also prepared a survey which touches on the main RD&E issues raised in the GRDC's paper. It's another way you can give your views about how you'd like the RD&E money to be spent.
The survey has been sent to all GrainGrowers' members and the results will be discussed with GRDC at GrainGrowers' National Policy Group (NPG) meeting in February. The survey results will be used by GrainGrowers, as one of the appointed Representative Organisations, to ensure the views of levy payers are reflected in GRDC's new strategic plan.
The survey will take about 10-20 minutes and individual results will be kept confidential. Thank you for taking the time to have your say about how you want your levy dollars spent.
